Indiana Hot air balloon tripsHot air balloon trips are fashionable in Indiana, and your family can revel in this exciting way to fly any time the weather is favorable. Regardless of the fact that many persons have never gotten close to a ballon, those who have taken flight in one remember this tremendous experience for life!Lighter-than-air was the first aviation, and is still the choice for many pilots more than 200 years later. You don't need an airport or a runway. If you own a balloon, you don't need a hangar or even a tie-down space, just a corner of your garage. Take off from your back field, or the parking lot at the general store (with permission, of course). Drift quietly along, experiencing little or no sensation of movement of height. Land on a freshly cut hayfield, or the softball diamond before the players even get out of bed.
Why can't I get a balloon ride in the middle of the day? Balloons fly early in the morning, right after sunrise and late in the day, right before sunset. This is when the wind is calmest since the sun is low in the sky. The wind is generally too unpredictable, with severe up-and down-drafts, during the middle of the day. It isn't safe to offer balloon rides when the wind is unstable.
