How does the balloon get in the air in the first place? That's where the ground crew (or chase crew, two names, same job) comes in. The crew's number one job is to assist the pilot. Once the balloon is airborne, the crew takes the chase vehicle and follow the balloon for an hour or so.

Is Balloon Flight Safe?

Absolutely! While there is an element of risk in everything we do in life, flying in a balloon is inherently safe for several reasons:
