Rhode Island Balloon ridesBalloon flights are big in Rhode Island, and your family can revel in this wonderful pastime when the conditions are favorable. While many individuals have never gotten near a ballon, those who have flown in one remember this marvelous experience for years!During the flight the balloon is followed by the chase crew. The chase crew is usually in radio contact with the pilot, and the crew's job is to be at the landing site when the balloon returns to earth. This can be quite an adventure in itself! After the balloon lands, the crew packs the balloon back into the chase vehicle and everyone returns to the launch site. One of the most important parts of being on a chase crew is dealing with the public. When the balloon is landing, the chase crew asks the landowner for permission to retrieve the balloon.
What should you wear during your flight? Ballooning is not a formal occasion, so heals, dresses and suits are not appropriate. Dress like you would for an outdoor hike. Comfortable shoes (no open-toed shoes or sandals, please), long pants and layered clothing during the cooler months are recommended. Balloons don't normally land at airports, so you'll probably be standing in an open field after landing. Dress appropriately for the area of the country you're flying in. Be sure to check with the company you are flying with for their clothing rules.
