West Virginia Balloon ridesHot air balloon trips are the rage in West Virginia, and busy people can revel in this wonderous and photogenic activity any time the conditions are right. Even though many persons have never been close to a balloon, those who have taken off in one remember this wonderful treat for life!Balloons are aircraft, regulated under the same Federal Aviation Regulations as every other category of aircraft. Balloons are aerostats, that is, static within the air. Once the balloon is buoyant, it moves with the air mass in which it floats, no faster, no slower, no different direction. The pilot has altitudinal control, and can alter the balloon's course by finding an air mass going in a slightly different direction.
Be sure to bring a camera and plenty of film! You'll be surprised at how many pictures you take before, during and after your flight. Bring more film or memory than you think you'll use. Once you're in the air and snapping away you sure don't want to be surprised by running out! You can bring cameras for still or video, and we suggest you carry them in a protective case. Your pilot may ask you to put your cameras away during landing to make sure there are no objects that could fly out of your hand and hurt someone. Once you're on the ground you can start shooting again.
